Dossier statuses are important to know where it stands in its progress. The status bar, located at the top of the dossier list, will allow you see all dossiers in that selected status once clicked. To understand what each status means, please read the list below:
FUTURE INITIATIVE These are anticipated initiatives. They are not yet public.
CURRENT PROPOSALS Initiatives that have been presented by the Commission to be examined by the other EU institutions. For IA or DEA, it becomes current the draft measure is approved by the management/regulatory committee or adopted by the Commission.
ADOPTED AWAITING PUBLICATION (only legislative proposals): This means that the proposal for legislation has been adopted by the Council and EP, all that remains is for the legislation to be published in the EU’s Official Journal (OJ).
PUBLISHED, NOT YET IN FORCE (only legislative proposals): This refers to legislation published in the Official Journal but does not yet having entered into force.
IN FORCE (only legislative proposals): Legislation that has full legal force in the EU.
IMPLEMENTATION DEADLINE PASSED A measure (delegated or implementing act) that is required to be implemented by a certain date by statute (Regulation, Directive or Decision). If these measures are not implemented by their statutory deadline, their implementation deadline is passed and the Commission can be subject to legal proceedings for omission.
REPEALED Legislation is repealed by new legislation adopted by the EU.
DORMANT Any measure, whether legislative or non-legislative, the Commission decides that it won’t continue to work on for the foreseeable future.
SHELVED the Commission will not propose the initiative as expected, or has decided to withdraw a proposal due to a failure to reach an agreement within the institutions.
COMPLETED NON-LEGISLATIVE All non-legislative initiatives that have been examined by Parliament and Council, by just one of them or by neither institution, as they are not legally bound to respond.
